ASP 2060 (PM High-Speed Steel, 8% Co, 4% V) is a reference entry for industrial cutting tools and blades. The composition, hardness, heat treatment and application guidance are summarised below for engineering reference.
Standard composition: C 2.30 %, Cr 4.0 %, Mo 7.0 %, W 6.5 %, V 6.5 %, Co 10.5 %, balance Fe (typical)
Hardness: Annealed HB 280–320; hardened HRC 67–70
Heat treatment: Austenitise 1,150–1,180 °C, gas quench, triple temper 540–570 °C
Properties: A powder-metallurgy HSS with very high V (6.5 %) and Co (10.5 %). Extremely high wear resistance. Hardness up to HRC 70. Toughness better than would be expected at this hardness because the powder-metallurgy process produces a uniform, fine carbide distribution. Very expensive.
Applications: Most demanding slitter blades, abrasive composite cutting, precision stamping tooling.
