We measure, reverse-engineer and, in many cases, improve on the original edge geometry. Each capability is staffed by specialists and supported by calibrated equipment. We do not outsource critical process steps.
Custom Blade Design
Reverse-engineering from a worn sample, parametric design from your drawing, or co-development against a new process. 3D CAD and FEA on request. Best for: Worn-sample reverse engineering, parametric design, co-development. Not for: Off-the-shelf blade reselling without engineering input.
CNC Precision Grinding
5-axis CNC profile grinding, surface grinding to Ra 0.2 µm, OD/ID cylindrical grinding, CNC wire EDM for carbide geometries. Best for: Tight ±0.005 mm profile geometry and mirror-finish surfaces. Not for: Heavy 5-ton rough forgings or high-tonnage stamping work.
Vacuum Heat Treatment
Vacuum hardening, tempering and sub-zero treatment. Hardness verified on every batch with calibrated Rockwell testers. Best for: D2 / HSS knives requiring HRC 58–62 and minimum distortion. Not for: Low-carbon structural steels where case hardening is more appropriate.
PVD Coating
TiN, TiCN, CrN and DLC coatings applied in-house to ±2 µm uniformity. Adhesion tested per VDI 3198. Best for: Wear- and corrosion-resistant edges in continuous production. Not for: High-temperature hot-work above 500 °C where CVD is more suitable.
Re-sharpening & Re-grinding
Return-and-resharpen service for our own blades. Original geometry preserved by reading the worn edge profile before grinding. Best for: Blades originally supplied by KAIPU with geometry record on file. Not for: Blades from other suppliers with unknown geometry or materials.
Quality Assurance
CMM dimensional inspection, hardness mapping, surface roughness and full batch traceability. PPAP / ISIR on request. Best for: Automotive, packaging and converting customers needing PPAP, ISIR and Cpk ≥ 1.33. Not for: Cash buyers with no QA documentation requirements.

Order Process
Eight Steps from RFQ to Delivery
Step 1: RFQ review
You send a drawing, sample or written spec. We confirm material, geometry, tolerance, quantity and target price within one business day.
Step 2: Engineering quotation
Detailed quote with material grade, hardness, dimensional tolerance, lead time and tooling cost (if any). No hidden charges.
Step 3: Drawing approval
For custom parts, we issue a 2D / 3D drawing for your written approval before any steel is ordered.
Step 4: Material procurement
Steel sourced from audited mills with mill certificates. Common grades held in buffer stock to compress lead time.
Step 5: Rough machining
Forging, milling and wire EDM to bring the blank close to net shape while preserving grain flow.
Step 6: Heat treatment
Vacuum hardening and tempering to specified HRC. Distortion minimised through controlled quench rates.
Step 7: CNC grinding & coating
Final geometry on 5-axis CNC grinders, optional PVD coating, then final QA inspection before packing.
Step 8: Inspection & dispatch
Dimensional report, hardness and surface records packaged with the goods. Export crating, FOB / CIF logistics arranged by our shipping team.

What is the typical lead time for a custom blade?
For most custom orders we ship within 4–6 weeks after drawing approval. The breakdown:
- Rough machining and forging: 1 week
- Heat treatment and sub-zero: 1 week
- CNC grinding and PVD: 1–2 weeks
- Final QA, docs and packing: 3–5 days
What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
No hard MOQ for custom work:
- Prototype: 1–10 pieces
- Pilot run: 50–200 pieces
- Serial production: 500+ with capacity lock
Can you sign an NDA before we share drawings?
Yes — mutual NDAs before any technical exchange:
- Mutual NDA template available
- Drawings stored in restricted PDM
- No reverse-engineering of customer designs for third parties
Do you provide material certificates and PPAP?
Yes. Every batch ships with full traceability:
- Mill certificate (EN 10204 3.1) with heat number
- Hardness mapping + dimensional CMM report
- PPAP level 3 / ISIR on request for automotive
