What Lives Behind the Quote

Every step of the manufacturing chain โ€” design, tool-room, heat treatment, grinding, PVD coating and quality lab โ€” is under one roof. You deal with one engineering team end-to-end.

Design office

SolidWorks, AutoCAD and Mastercam. Engineers fluent in CAD-to-CAM, including direct import of customer STEP / IGES / DXF files.

Tool-room

CNC milling, turning and wire EDM. Fixtures built in-house to hold tight tolerances without grinding vibration.

Heat treatment

Two vacuum furnaces (12 and 30 bar quench) plus a cryogenic treatment cell. Hardness calibrated daily against a certified test block.

Grinding hall

Five-axis CNC profile grinders, surface grinders and cylindrical grinders. Coolant filtration keeps thermal growth under control.

PVD coating

Two PVD chambers (TiN / TiCN / CrN / DLC). Coating thickness measured on a Calotest rig and recorded in the batch file.

Quality lab

CMM, optical comparator, surface roughness tester, micro-hardness tester. Reports archived for ten years per ISO 9001.

Which blade material should I choose โ€” D2, SKD11 or M2 HSS?

D2 (1.2379) is the default grade for paper, film and foil slitting at ambient temperature. SKD11 / DC53 is the first choice for thin gauges under 1 mm because its refined carbide distribution reduces chipping. M2 HSS (1.3343) is the right pick when the edge runs hot โ€” granulators, high-speed slitting, or abrasive recycled feedstock. Send us your substrate, line speed and current blade life and we will recommend a grade on the quotation.

What tolerances can you hold on a custom blade?

Standard CNC grinding holds ยฑ0.01 mm on flatness and parallelism, ยฑ0.02 mm on concentricity and surface finish to Ra 0.2โ€“0.4 ยตm. Tighter tolerances (down to ยฑ0.002 mm) are available on request with a quoted lead-time impact. Every dimension you specify is CMM-checked and the report ships with the parts.

What is the typical lead time for a non-stock blade?

Stocked OD sizes ship in 10 working days. Custom non-stock items follow our 8-step process and ship in 20โ€“25 working days from drawing approval. Reverse-engineered parts add 5โ€“10 working days for the CMM measurement and drawing-approval stage. Lead times we quote are the lead times we deliver against โ€” we tell you on the day we know if anything slips.

Do you offer reverse-engineering from a worn sample?

Yes. Send us the worn blade, a 3D scan, or a STEP / IGES / DXF file. We CMM-measure the critical features, reconstruct the original geometry, and propose a material and hardness upgrade where the wear pattern allows. A 2D / 3D drawing is issued for your written approval before any steel is ordered.

Which PVD coating should I specify โ€” TiN, TiCN, CrN or DLC?

TiN is the general-purpose choice for wear resistance. TiCN suits thin film and paper where lower friction matters. CrN is used for corrosive or food-contact applications. DLC (diamond-like carbon) is the lowest-friction option for sticky or adhesive substrates. Coating thickness is held to ยฑ2 ยตm uniformity and adhesion is verified per VDI 3198 on every batch.

Can you match an OEM part if I do not have a drawing?

Yes โ€” that is the reverse-engineering workflow. We CMM-measure your worn part (or your spare), recover the original geometry, and either reproduce it exactly or upgrade it based on the wear pattern. The replacement is shipped with a 2D / 3D drawing of the recovered geometry for your records.

What is the minimum order quantity for a custom blade?

For a one-off custom blade the minimum order quantity is one piece. Tooling and setup are amortised into the unit price for low-volume runs. For ongoing consumption we typically schedule a quarterly batch (e.g. 20โ€“50 pieces) so you receive a lower unit price and a predictable dispatch cadence.

How quickly will I receive an engineering quotation?

Within one business day of receiving your drawing, sample or written specification. The quote lists material grade, hardness, dimensional tolerance, lead time and tooling cost (if any) on the same page โ€” there are no hidden extras. PPAP / ISIR documentation can be included on request for automotive and medical customers.

Risk Reduction, Built into Every Order

Every batch carries a paper trail. Every dimension is CMM-checked. Every hardness is recorded. Here is what we do to keep risk on our side of the table.

Material traceability

Steel arrives with a mill certificate. We never blend grades and never substitute without written approval.

In-house heat treatment

Two vacuum furnaces and a cryogenic cell. Distortion is minimised through controlled quench rates; hardness is mapped on every batch.

CMM inspection

Every dimension you specify is checked on a coordinate measuring machine. Reports are shipped with the parts.

PVD coating adhesion

Coating adhesion is verified per VDI 3198 on every coated batch. Thickness is held to ยฑ2 ยตm uniformity.

PPAP and ISIR documentation

Available on request for automotive and medical customers. Includes initial sample, dimensional and material reports.

ISO 9001 since 2003

Quality system audited annually by an accredited certification body. Documentation archive retained for ten years.

Stocked OD sizes on circular and straight blades ship in 10 working days. We hold material for the most common diameters and thicknesses.

Quarterly batch scheduling

Recurring customers run on a quarterly cadence (e.g. 20โ€“50 pieces / quarter). Capacity is reserved at the order-confirmation step.

Annual capacity

120,000 parts per year across the six families. Capacity is reviewed monthly against the order book.

Dispatch and logistics

Export crating, FOB / CIF / DAP terms arranged by our shipping team. Typical European lead time 4โ€“6 weeks by sea; air-freight on request.
