AISI 440C is the standard martensitic stainless steel for industrial cutting tools, bearings and food-contact blades. High-carbon, 17 % Cr, hardened to HRC 58–60. Cross-reference to 9Cr18MoV, 1.4125, 11Cr17.
AISI D2 is a high-carbon, high-chromium cold-work tool steel widely used for industrial slitter, shear and granulator blades. Chemistry, hardness, heat treatment, applications and cross-reference (SKD11, 1.2379, Cr12Mo1V1).
AISI M2 is the workhorse high-speed steel (HSS) of the converting and slitting industry. Molybdenum-tungsten-vanadium tool steel, hardened to HRC 62–65, retains hardness at 500–600 °C.
