AISI H11 Hot-Work Tool Steel

AISI H11 Hot-Work Tool Steel is a reference entry for industrial cutting tools and blades. The composition, hardness, heat treatment and application guidance are summarised below for engineering reference.
Standard composition: C 0.33–0.43 %, Cr 4.75–5.50 %, Mo 1.10–1.75 %, V 0.30–0.60 %, Mn 0.20–0.50 %, Si 0.80–1.20 %, balance Fe
Hardness: Annealed HB 192–229; hardened HRC 48–53
Heat treatment: Austenitise 990–1,040 °C, air or oil cool, double temper 540–620 °C
Properties: The lower-V cousin of H13. Slightly less hot hardness than H13 but tougher. Used for hot-work applications where impact dominates over wear.
Applications: Hot shear blades, die-casting dies for aluminium, hot piercing punches, plastic injection moulds for high-temperature polymers.
