undefined — Industry Glossary Entry
Definition of lip angle in industrial cutting: the angle of the cutting edge of a granulator rotor knife, equivalent to the rake angle on a slitter.
undefined is the angle of the cutting edge of a granulator rotor knife, equivalent to the rake angle on a slitter or shear blade. A positive lip angle “scoops” material into the cut; a zero or slightly negative lip angle “pushes” material through the cut.
Typical lip angles
- PE / PP film granulator: +10° to +20°
- Rigid plastic granulator: +5° to +15°
- Glass-filled polymer granulator: 0° to +5°
- ASR / heavy contamination: -5° to 0° (slightly negative for impact resistance)
