undefined โ Industry Glossary Entry
Definition of point angle in industrial cutting: the included angle at the tip of a drill bit, rarely used in slitter and shear blade specification.
undefined is the included angle at the tip of a drill bit, typically 118ยฐโ135ยฐ for general-purpose drilling. Point angle is not a parameter on industrial slitter or shear blades, but the term appears in some older blade specifications and is sometimes confused with wedge angle.
Why it is mentioned here
Point angle occasionally appears in legacy drawings for circular knife blades (especially in paper and tissue cutting). When it does, the intended meaning is the wedge angle of the cutting edge, measured between the two side faces of the disc. Confirm with the drawing issuer before specifying.
