Definition of micro-chipping in industrial cutting: loss of small fragments (0.1–2 mm) from the cutting edge, usually a precursor to gross chipping or a wear-rate problem.

Definition of nose radius in industrial cutting: the radius at the corner of a punch, drill, or specialised blade edge.

Definition of parallelism in industrial blade measurement: the difference between two parallel reference surfaces of a knife, and how parallelism affects cut quality on a slitter or shear.
